Calendar

The calendar may be inaccurate during holidays, when it counts the most. Which sucks. "Holiday closure" at the beginning of an entry title means that program is cancelled on that day, due to the holiday. Please leave a comment below if you have any updates. Even if it's to update the verification date of a listing. Those verification dates are the only indication of reliability.

  5. Pretty sure this calendar does not reflect all the places serving lunch...but I can at least verify CONC does lunch Monday-Thursday from 12-1, Sunday 1-2. And anyone can pick up a bagged lunch on Friday between 9-12. Hope that helps to keep this calendar accurate.

    1. Wait a minute... you mean CONC at their Salvation Army Dovercourt location? Or did they move back into their own actual place?

  6. I used to go to Council Fire when they served Mon to Thur. Now they have three times a week and meal served after a movie. Im not going to watch Home Alone or Edward Scissorhands on empty stomach and pretend I'm interested

  7. 519 was the only place I got food poisoning from when they served to anybody, not just to LGBT.

The meals schedule doesn't reflect youth. Renovated YMCA at Queen W and Spadina, Covenant house and Yonge street mission Evergreen at Gerrard and Yonge

  14. if you go to Good Shepherd, watch out for and report the line-cutters as soon as you can. I've seen a tall ugly fat First Nations man with sunglasses and bandanna, who habitually line cut, and a red-headed fat pony-tailed white man who likes to line cut.

Also I consistently see the people serving the food loading up there bags behind the serving counter with all kinds of good food fucking theirs if you ask me

  17. Good Shepherd has Turkey dinner at 12 this coming Monday 10th. last year it was a feast and very busy. you can pick up take-out at 3pm. no breakfast

  18. Good Shepherd, the ONLY truly reliable place to go, has been removed from this list. 09:00-11:00 breakfast and 14:00-16:00 lunch unless Thanksgiving or Christmas day, then its 13:00-14:30.

    1. I was in Dare program at Good Shepherd, and I don't feel like coming back after. except for Thanksgiving Christmas. When on days when its chicken soup and mac and cheese and stale bread DARE people and employees feast on steak, have selection of fish, chicken and beef and cake every day. and they treat homeless like zombies

  22. Also the elevator at Sanctuary is constantly busted, they don't have enough money to keep repairs going on all the time, have been told by staff also that it also needs replacing.

  23. Toronto good Shepard, is way better than the one in Hamilton, I grew up in Hamilton, absolutely crap, slop days outnumbered decent food days.

I wish there was a way to find out which places are wheelchair accessible, without having to call each one, leave messages & never get called back.

    1. That's a really good point about accessibility! I've found that most of these places are better with email than phone. Maybe try that. And please do post your findings here, it'd help the process of getting accessibility notes on the different places.

  31. Last time I tried to get dinner at the Grange (approx a month ago) I was told they weren't doing open dinners, only feeding people who were staying the night there. Not sure how recent or how long this is happening, maybe just for the winter but I seemed to be the only person there who was unaware - even though the shelter intake on peter street are the ones who sent me there.

  34. We went to Grange Park Dinner, Sun, October 27, 6:30pm – 7:30pm ... and the centre was closed! So we went to St. Stephens in the Field Church Dinner, 7:00pm and they told us it started at 6:30pm and they were out of food. Strike two! We both went home hungry. I hope your irresponsible webmaster ate well tonight. What's the point of having this webpage if you can't keep it up-to-date?

    1. Grange Park seems very erratic, in my experience. I have only eaten there when literally led by hand by other street people. When I have shown up based on online listings (this is the best one available, just to say!) I have had Grange turn me away saying there is no dinner or that it is only for people sleeping there. I have no idea what their serving schedule is now, if it even exists, but their listings should probably make it clear that they seem to change things up more often than most.
